Great walking trails, easy access to Gulf of St Vincent and taking a dip in the Tidal Swimming Pool are just a few of the great activities you can enjoy in Port Wakefield.
Take advantage of one of South Australia’s three tidal swimming pools. Swim, kayak, stand-up paddle board around the historic swimming pool. The tidal pool is the perfect place to cool off while staying at the caravan park with foreshore camping sites available.
If you’re a keen fisher or want to launch your boat to explore Gulf of St Vincent, the boat ramp and wharf is just down the road from the Caravan Park. The boat ramp offers dual lane launching with a floating pontoon. Head out to grab a feed of blue swimmer crabs, yellow fin whiting or go dabbing for garfish.
The walk explores Port Wakefield’s history as a Port from when it was first established in 1850 to service the mining town of Burra. This is a self-guided tour using the interpretive signs on the trail and the map from the Port Wakefield Museum.
